AventuraĀ is aĀ plannedĀ suburban city in northeasternĀ Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, 15 miles (24Ā km) north ofĀ MiamiĀ and part of theĀ Miami metropolitan area. The city is especially known forĀ Aventura Mall, the third largestĀ mall in the United StatesĀ by total square feet of retail space and the largest mall inĀ Florida.
The city name is from theĀ SpanishĀ word for “adventure”, and was named “Aventura” after the developers of the original group ofĀ condominiumsĀ in the area,Ā Eddie LewisĀ andĀ Don Soffer, who had remarked “What an adventure this is going to be.”[5]
As of theĀ 2020 census, the city population was 40,242,[2]Ā up from 35,762 inĀ 2010.
